Iron Perler Beads
Ironing is the step that turns loose beads into a finished object. It is also the step where patience matters most.
Set Up Safely
Use ironing paper or parchment paper between the beads and the iron. Turn off steam and start with medium heat.
Children should arrange beads, but an adult should handle the iron.
Press Evenly
Move the iron in slow circles. Do not push hard at first. Light, even pressure helps the beads fuse without flattening too quickly.
Check through the paper after 10 to 15 seconds. The bead holes should still be visible unless you want a very melted finish.
Cool Before Lifting
Let the piece cool for a minute before removing it from the pegboard. Warm fused beads can bend easily.
For larger pieces, place a flat book on top while cooling to reduce curling.
Fuse the Back If Needed
If the design will become a keychain or magnet, you may want to iron the back lightly as well. Flip carefully, cover with paper again, and use shorter heat.
Too much heat removes detail, so stop as soon as the piece feels stable.
