Choose Beads and Pegboards
Good bead projects start before you place the first bead. The bead size, pegboard shape, and color inventory decide how easy the rest of the build will feel.
Regular or Mini Beads
Regular beads are easier to handle, better for kids, and more forgiving when you iron. Mini beads create finer detail, but they need steadier hands and more careful heat control.
For a first printable pattern, regular beads are the safer choice. Move to mini beads when you want smaller keychains, jewelry, or detailed portraits.
Match the Pegboard Shape
Most printable image patterns work best on square pegboards because the grid is predictable. Circle, hexagon, and specialty boards are useful for icons and ornaments, but they limit the shape of the design.
If your pattern is larger than one board, check that your pegboards can connect cleanly before you start.
Prepare Core Colors
Keep extra white, black, skin tones, yellow, red, blue, and green on hand. These colors appear often in outlines, highlights, faces, flowers, and game characters.
Before buying supplies, open the pattern color count and confirm the highest-count colors first. It is better to have too many background beads than to stop halfway through a project.
